Interview with Melissa Landers, author of the Alienated series

So this all started with Melissa Landers liking a post on Instagram, then commenting and liking on twitter.
So I asked her if I could interview her for my blog.
She said I could ask her a couple of questions on her website.

So here they are .

Why did you decide to start writing ?

I've always been an avid reader, but I never wanted to write until 2009, after I had been out of the work force for several years. (I retired from teaching to stay home with my young children.) I needed a creative outlet, and writing provided that.

Was it hard to find a publisher ?

ALIENATED sold after tree or four months on submission, which isn't bad in today's crowded YA market.

Did your family support your choice ?

Yes, my family is 100% supportive of me in every way. They're my biggest fans and cheerleaders.

What is the language and country you want your book to be published next ?

Hmm, that's a good question. I have a lot of readers in the UK, Australia and Germany who wish my books were available in their countries. I have no control over that, but I can tell you that Book Depository ships worldwide for free !

Any advice for people that would like to start writing themselves ?

My advice to aspiring authors is settle in for a long journey and a lot of hard work.
Publishing a book is kind of like the Olympic games. You wouldn't strap on a pair of ice skates for the first time and then expect to make the Olympic team, would you. Of cours not.
And yet many writers expect instant success and feel discourages (or quit) when that doesn't happen.
Publishing a book is hard work. It's SUPOSSED to be hard, otherwise everyone would do it.

Special thanks to Melissa Landers.
